Resource / checklist

Know what your data can explain.

A short source inventory helps reveal whether a question needs more measurement, clearer definitions or better alignment.

01 / Inventory

Record the source before the number.

  • Name the meter, system, document or manual record.
  • Identify the process and equipment covered by the source.
  • Record the unit, sampling frequency and timestamp convention.
  • Name the data owner and permitted access method.

02 / Context

Check the information around the reading.

01

Coverage

What is included, excluded or shared with another operation?

02

Quality

Are there gaps, duplicates, resets or estimated values?

03

Output

Can useful production output be aligned to the same period?

03 / Next step

Turn gaps into a short action list.

For each source, record one of three readiness states: available, clarification needed or unavailable. Then identify the smallest next step that would make the source useful. A missing definition may matter more than a missing dashboard.
